On Respect

Respect is defines as ‘due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others.’ As a Young Adult Services Manager who has an extensive background in health and wellness and health education, I am aware of the need for all people to show and receive respect.

The Mancos Library has a policy on responsibilities and conduct for patrons. This is for all patrons, all inclusive as libraries are it cannot be any other way.

The main point I would like to share is as follows; ‘Individuals on library property will, at all times, show respect for themselves, other library users, staff and all property of the library.’

The library keeps all policies at the front desk and anyone can ask to view them. I have also posted the Patron Responsibilities and Conduct Policy on the Teen Area Bulletin Board.

Please, have consideration for all people and property! Thank you!

#1… I am taken from mine, and shut up in a wooden case, from which I am never released, and yet I am used by almost everybody.  What am I?

#2… I am the beginning o the end, and the end of time and space. I am essential to creation, and I surround every place. What am I?

#3… There are 3 stoves. A glass stove, a brick stove, and a wood stove. You only have one match. Which do you light up first?

#4… Two fathers and two sons went duck hunting. Each shot a duck but they shot only three ducks in all. How come?

#5… What comes once in a minute, twice in a moment, but never in a thousand years?

#7… What is it that you cannot hold even ten minutes, even though it is lighter than a feather?

#8… Who spends the day at the window, goes to the table for meals, and hides at night?

#9… There was a green house. Inside the green house there was a white house.  Inside the white house there was a red house. Inside the red house there were lots of babies.  What is it?

#10… There are four brothers in this world that were born all together.  The first runs and never wearies.  The second eats and is never full.  The third drinks and is always thirsty.  The fourth sings a song that is never good.
